Preventive care continues for Rajouri residents, says J&K Government
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has assured that intensive preventive care continues in Badhaal village, where 17 people recently died due to an unexplained illness. As of Wednesday, no new cases have been reported since January 24, 2025. The district administration of Rajouri, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, is maintaining strict oversight to ensure the well-being of the residents, according to an official spokesperson.
To manage the situation, all shops and establishments in Badhaal have been sealed, and ration is being distributed under close supervision. Additionally, 424 domestic animals and 168 poultry birds belonging to displaced families are being cared for by dedicated teams.
In a bid to prevent further casualties, 87 families, totalling 364 individuals, have been relocated to Rajouri town. These families are being housed at the Government Nursing College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, and GMC Rajouri, where they remain under observation. Comprehensive arrangements for their comfort and safety have been made.
“Families are being provided meals, water, baby food, sanitary items, medicines, clothing, and other daily necessities, all under the close monitoring of doctors and district officials,” the spokesperson stated. The district administration has provided 240 beds, 490 blankets and 303 mattresses, with additional supplies reserved for future needs.
A dedicated on-site medical team, including three doctors is working round the clock. Meals are prepared in kitchens, with samples sent for testing to NFL Ghaziabad and Patol Testing Lab in Jammu.
