IN the absence of check on markets in Srinagar, shopkeepers are charging different prices for vegetables. From the Maharaja bazaar to Jawahar Nagar, one can find shopkeepers charging different prices for onion. While onions are being sold for Rs 80 in Jawahar Nagar, the price at the Maharaja bazaar is Rs 60. Some vegetable seller says they do not fear the government. There should be a check on market prices lest people lose faith in the government.

Infra maintenance ignored

THOUGH the government has started installing streetlights in many areas of Srinagar, it must remember that civic infrastructure needs maintenance. The government must maintain the existing infrastructure in the city, so that it does not require replacement every other year. The quality should be such that civic infrastructure last decades.
