Public Safety Act detention of 3 quashed

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of three persons booked under the Public Safety Act.

While disposing of the three separate habeas corpus petitions, a bench of Justice Tashi Rabstan quashed the detention of Shabir Ahmad Wani and Umar Ahmad Dar — both residents of DH Pora in Kulgam, and Azad Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Arreh in Kulgam.

While Shabir was booked under the PSA on August 8 last year, Umar was booked on August 14 last year. Both were lodged at Central Jail, Srinagar.

The third detenue, Azad Ahmad, was booked under the PSA on July 4, 2019, and lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
