Punjab minor nabbed with 33 kg heroin
Jammu, August 9
The Jammu police have arrested a Punjab-based minor drug peddler from the bus stand area and seized 33 kg heroin worth crores of rupees from him. They acted on a tip-off, after which the local personnel were activated who detected a suspect. The police checked a bag in which 26 packets of drugs were stashed.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain said it was a matter of investigation to whom he was supposed to hand it over. “We are also investigating if the peddler received the drugs through drone-dropping or some other means,” said Jain.
An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered. “Prima facie, it appears that the accused, who had come from Akhnoor, obtained the consignment from a border area and was taking it to Punjab,” he said. — OC
