Railways collects Rs 30 lakh fine in Jammu division
Checking staff caught 5,436 passengers for irregular travel
The ticket checking staff of Northern Railways collected a sum of Rs 30 lakh as fine during the month of September in Jammu division.
During the ticket checking drive in September, the division’s checking staff and chief ticket inspectors apprehended 5,436 passengers for irregular travel, and collected fines of approximately Rs 30 lakh. Railway officials also conduct regular surprise ticket checking drives to prevent unauthorised entry of passengers onto trains.
“In the Jammu Division of Northern Railways, the ticket checking staff of the division conducts intensive ticket checking in trains to curb ticketless and irregular travel to provide comfortable travel and better services to all genuine rail users,” an official spokesperson said. Singhal stated, “Checking staff has performed exceptionally well in apprehending illegal travellers and imposing appropriate fines on them.”
