Railways installs ticket-vending machines at multiple stations in Jammu region

Passengers could purchase tickets without standing in long queues at counters through these ATVMs.

In view of the ongoing festive season and to enhance passenger convenience in the Jammu Division, automatic ticket-vending machines (ATVMs) have been installed at railway stations across the division.

These machines have been installed at railway station in Jammu region that include — Shahid Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Pathankot.

A Railway spokesperson said passengers could purchase tickets without standing in long queues at counters through these ATVMs. “These machines are user-friendly and have a touch screen interface, which allows passengers to book tickets at their convenience. Digital payment options are also available. The ATVMs support UPI and other digital payment modes,” the spokesperson said.

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Railways, said, “Passengers can make cashless payments which makes transactions faster and safer. Passengers using Railway Smart Cards will receive three per cent additional value on every recharge. These machines can be used to purchase unreserved tickets as well as platform tickets.”

“Multi-language options are also provided, making ATVMs easily accessible to passengers from different regions. Passengers can purchase tickets any time as these machines will function 24 hours a day,” he said.

“By promoting the use of ATVMs, unnecessary crowding at railway stations can be avoided, while creating a safe environment for all passengers. Indian Railways urges passengers to take advantage of these machines and make their journeys more comfortable and stress-free,” he said.
