Jammu, June 28

Even as the Union Territory (UT) count crossed 7,000-mark, Jammu and Kashmir has shown a significant improvement in the Covid-19 recovery rate as over 60 per cent patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals so far.

There are certain districts where the recovery rate is as high as over 85 per cent, giving hope of optimism to the authorities and healthcare workers. Out of total 7,093 positive cases, at least 4,316 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals so far. The recovery rate in June has increased by 127 per cent although the number of positive cases spiralled to over 7,000 from 2,601 on June 1. The sudden rise in positive cases was due to the return of stranded people of the UT from different parts of the country as 2,239 of them (positive cases) were travellers.

In Bandipora district of Kashmir Valley, the recovery rate has climbed to nearly 87 per cent. It is 80 per cent in Jammu and 82 per cent in Poonch district of the Jammu region.

“Over 75 per cent patients have recovered in the mountainous Doda district, while 74 per cent of them have recovered in Kishtwar district,” the official statistics revealed. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir is in spotlight as fatalities have also risen three times in the UT in the current month. The number of fatalities has increased to 94 from 31 this month alone. Srinagar district has reported the highest deaths, where 22 Covid-affected persons lost their lives, followed by 15 in Baramulla and 13 in Kulgam.
