Rescued Sikh girl from Badgam married off

One of the ‘abducted’ Sikh girls has been rescued and married to a Srinagar Sikh man. The 18-year-old girl from Badgam married Supreet at Rainawari Gurdwara Sahib in Srinagar today. The couple was shifted to New Delhi by DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

“She disclosed that she was kidnapped and threatened that her parents were behind the bars and would be freed only if she surrenders to their wish. Luckily, she was rescued,” he said.

Sirsa said another 28-year-old woman, who is said to passed through the identical circumstances, is still missing. SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said the government should set up a minority commission in J&K.
