Srinagar, February 12
Traders and residents of the Kashmir valley on Wednesday decried a steep hike in the price of non-subsidised LPG cylinder refills.
“This is the sixth straight increase in the LPG cylinder prices in the past few months. In winters, lot of gas gets consumed in Kashmir due to cold weather and this hike will burden large families. At a time when residents should be given respite from price rise, this hike will add to the burden on the common man,” said Aijaz Shahdhar, vice-chairman, Kashmir Economic Alliance.
He said the hike in the price of non-subsidised LPG should be rolled back as the price had already been raised frequently in the past. Parvez Bhat, a resident, said the common man in the Valley had already been troubled by the LPG shortage during the winter months. — TNS
