Singh said the BJP’s manifesto, released by Home Minister Amit Shah, promises annual financial support of Rs 18,000 for the senior most woman in a family under the aforementioned scheme.

“On the other hand, the National Conference’s manifesto is speaking about restoring Article 370 and 35-A, wherein the daughters of J&K would once again be deprived of claiming any right to the land and property of their parents, if any of them chooses to marry a spouse who is not a domicile of J&K,” he added.

The minister addressed a public rally in support of BJP candidate Balwant Singh Mankotia at Chenani in Udhampur and then a rally in support of party’s candidate Rajiv Jasrotia at Jasrota in Kathua.

Jitendra Singh said, “This is the difference between the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP and the opposition parties like the Congress and their allies such as the National Conference.”

He claimed that in the last 10 years, the government under PM Modi had done everything possible to ensure women’s welfare on a priority regardless of their caste, creed or religion and rolled out women-centric schemes like the PM Ujjawala Yojana and PM Awas Yojana.

Meanwhile, the Congress and its allies look forward to reversing whatever equal rights were made available to women after the abrogation of Article 370.

Singh asserted: “In the last 10 years, the Central Government has given a lot to this region, all that was denied by the previous Congress governments and its allies.”

He went on cite the example of Chenani, home to the Sudh Mahadev shrine. “A new national highway (NH-244) connecting Sudh Mahadev with Kehlani is currently under construction. This highway will also cater to far-flung villages, which lacked even the minimal road facilities,” the minister said.
