REWA 2.0 launched to support Ladakh’s UPSC aspirants

Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta today launched the REWA 2.0 financial assistance scheme in Leh, describing it as a milestone in Ladakh’s drive towards youth empowerment and equitable opportunity.

The initiative aims to support 80 meritorious yet economically disadvantaged candidates from Leh and Kargil to pursue quality coaching for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Speaking at the launch at the LG Secretariat, Gupta said REWA 2.0 would provide a level playing field by covering coaching and accommodation expenses of Rs 1.18 lakh per candidate for six months at reputed institutions across the country.

He stressed that financial hardship should not stand in the way of talented youth aspiring to serve the nation through civil services, urging eligible candidates to make full use of the opportunity.

Administrative Secretary, Higher Education, Bhanu Prabha, said the scheme would benefit 40 candidates each from Leh and Kargil, including one seat per district for persons with disabilities. Candidates aged between 21 and 36 years can select an institute of their choice and must appear for the forthcoming UPSC Preliminary Examination.
