The Doda police have recovered a sum of over Rs 1.48 lakh that was defrauded by cyber criminals.

In an effort to combat growing cybercrime across the UT, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit (CICU) was able to recover defrauded money amounting to Rs 1,48,654 , according to a statement issued by the Doda police.

The police stated that they had two persons — identified as Nasreena Begum and Feroz Ahmed Dar, both residents of Doda — had complained that they were defrauded.

The Doda CCIU – which was established in February this year — has been able to recover Rs 26,26,688 so far.

Doda SSP Mohammad Aslam appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and promptly report any incidence of cybercrime to the National Helpline number 1930 or lodge cyber complaints online.
