Rs 10,516 crore investment made in J&K since 2019: Govt to House

The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday said that an investment of Rs 10,516 crore has been made in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019.

Responding to a question of MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary, Minister in-charge Industries and Commerce Surinder Choudhary said that an investment of Rs 3,407.63 crore has been made in Kashmir and Rs 7,108 crore in Jammu.

The MLA had asked for a response on broader contours of the Special Industrial Investment Policy/ Policies adopted in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir since 2019 and the division-wise total industrial investment made across Jammu and Kashmir since 2019.

The government disclosed the total investment of Rs 10,516 crore, an investment of Rs 3,407. 63 crore was made in Kashmir and Rs 7,108 crore in Jammu.

Giving a breakup of Kashmir, the government said an investment of Rs 164.37 crore was made in 2019-20, Rs 148.89 crore in 2020-21, Rs 125.87 crore in 2021-22 and Rs 737.36 crore in 2022-23. From 2024- 25 till February 25, 2025, the government said investment amount was Rs 1,423.17 crore.

Regarding Jammu, the government said an investment of Rs 132.27 crore was made in 2019-20, Rs 263.85 crore in 2020-21, Rs 250.89 crore in 2021-22; Rs 1,416.07 crore in 2022-23 and Rs 1,966.2 crore in 2023-24. Rs 3,079.57 crore was during the period 2024-25 till February 2025.

It also said the policies/ schemes adopted in the UT of J&K since 2019 are New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS) for the Industrial Development of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 2021 introduced by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry; J&K Industrial Policy, 2021-30; J&K Industrial Land Allotment Policy, 2021-30; J&K Private Industrial Estate Development Policy (Amended Version) 2021-30; Policy for Promotion of Foreign Investment in Industrial Sector in J&K, 2022; J&K Single Window Rules, 2021; Turnover Incentive Scheme, 2021 and J&K Start-Up Policy, 2024-27.
