RSS’s ‘Sewa Bharati’ sets up 663 centres to distribute food, essential commodities

As the lockdown continues to hamper the life of the poor and the marginalized, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has come forward to help through its offshoot—the ‘Sewa Bharati’.
‘Sewa Bharati’ has set-up 663 centres across J-K to distribute cooked food, dry ration and essential commodities to “break all stereotypes”.
“India is densely populated and is facing hardships due to COVID-19. Jammu and Kashmir too is affected by this pandemic,” Brig Suchet Singh RSS leader said.
Singh said that RSS workers were helping the poor and needy without “differentiating on the basis the caste, creed, culture and religion”.
“Sewa Bharati is playing a major role in providing relief to the needy persons not only in the UT of J&K but also in the UT of Ladakh. We were the first to start relief material distribution among the affected people, which includes labourers from the various states, along with the poor people of the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.”
He said that 3,000 RSS workers were serving families by distributing relief material in J-K and Ladakh.
Sewa Bharati has also sanitized nearly 2000 places in the city and various rural areas, including schools residential colonies and religious places.
Singh said that around five thousand packets of cooked food were provided to affected families and the organisation is making 2000 masks daily at its various facilities.
Sewa Bharati is also providing three thousand security forces personnel with tea, juices and biscuits daily.
Dr Goutam Mengi, another RSS leader, said that a general helpline desk has been established in every district of the UT for convenience of people by the Sewa Bharati.
