The district administration in Samba has intensified efforts to implement focused developmental initiatives under the Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan in the tribal villages of Rakh Barotian and Bari. The district administration today conducted an extensive public outreach camp at the tribal village of Rakh Barotian in Block Vijaypur, reaffirming its commitment to addressing grassroots concerns through direct engagement.

The strategy for the campaign rollout was finalised by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma during a meeting held at the Administrative Complex the other day.

Led by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, a multi-departmental team of officials directly engaged with the tribal residents to allow them to articulate their developmental aspirations.

The substantial turnout, comprising elders, youth and community leaders, underscored the significance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between the administration and underserved communities.

“Our mission is to ensure that no community remains untouched by the benefits of development. The ‘abhiyan’ is aimed at ensuring that the tribal communities are provided the benefit of various welfare schemes and contribute to their standard of living,” stated DC Sharma.

The villagers voiced several pressing needs, including critical infrastructure development—particularly road connectivity—enhanced healthcare services and development of the dairy industry. Upgrades to educational infrastructure, including the introduction of smart classroom facilities at the local middle school, were also prioritised.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the administration’s commitment to ensuring tribal welfare schemes reach every eligible household. “These are not just schemes on paper—they are entitlements that must translate into tangible benefits for deserving families,” he remarked, instructing officials to conduct thorough verification of beneficiary lists.

In a notable emphasis on sustainable development, DC Sharma encouraged local youth to explore self-employment opportunities through agro-allied initiatives and government schemes, highlighting the administration’s dual approach of addressing immediate needs while fostering long-term economic resilience.
