Samba murder case solved, 4 held with arms, ammo

Samba police claim to have solved a murder case, which took place in Gudwal area, and arrested four accused along with two pistols, three magazines, seven live rounds and one vehicle used in the crime. Those arrested have been identified as Atul Choudhary, Arun Choudhary, Sahil Sharma and Rajesh Kumar.
On December 25 at around 6 pm, victim Akshay Sharma, a resident of Gudwal, was brutally murdered by a group of men, who fired upon him with country-made pistols and also attacked with ‘toka’ at Gudwal Ramgarh. After committing the crime, the accused fled from the spot.
Police had registered a case under Sections 302, 148, 149 IPC, 3/4/25 Arms Act at Ramgarh police station, started investigation and conducted raids at suspected hideouts in and outside J&K.
“During a raid conducted by Samba police at suspected hideout at a hotel in Amritsar, accused Atul Choudhary and Arun Choudhary fired upon the police party due to which one constable Indu Bhushan sustained bullet injury. Even after getting injured, the official and his colleagues displayed conspicuous bravery, pounced upon the dreaded criminals and caught hold of them,” said Samba SSP Benam Tosh.
Injured official had to be admitted to a hospital in Amritsar where he was operated upon and bullet was removed. He has now been discharged from hospital.
A separate case of attempt to murder and Arms Act has been registered at Amritsar. The accused were arrested by Amritsar police but their custody was transferred and they have now been arrested in Akshay murder case. The SSP said further investigation in murder case is being conducted by police in highly professional manner.
