Jammu, May 7

The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to consider the functioning of the Civil Secretariat in Jammu and Srinagar simultaneously in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued here today, NMC president Subash Shastri expressed the hope that the expenditure relating to the Durbar Move, which runs into crores, could be utilised for the welfare of the distressed people.

Shastri said the savings on account of avoiding the Durbar move should be diverted towards disaster management affairs at this crucial juncture.

The Central/UT J&K governments are seriously taking steps to overcome the pandemic and issuing instructions to the people seeking their cooperation in this regard, he said.

Shastri appreciated the timely action take by the Prime Minister and J&K UT Government to fight the coronavirus here.
