As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the schedule for the pending Class X and XII annual exams, the J&K Board of School Education is also likely to announce the dates for conduct of remaining board exams of the summer zone (Jammu province) soon.
As a precautionary measure in view of the coronavirus pandemic, all examinations for Class X, XI and XII which were being held across J&K were postponed by the school education board.
Sources said a meeting was held at the JKBOSE few days ago to decide on the possible dates for conduct of pending board exams. They added that the decision on new date for examination would likely be taken after the Central Government issues new guidelines post May 31, when the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown comes to an end.
“The date for conduct of pending exams is likely to be announced after new guidelines are announced by the Centre. We want to conduct exams as early as possible so that the result will be declared in the shortest possible time,” said BOSE official.
The official added that the result of Class X examination was likely to be declared in two weeks. “Right now, the home evaluation for Class X answer scripts is going on at a rapid pace, and hopefully the result will be declared in 15 days,” said the official.
A total of 1,225 examination centres were set up by the BOSE for conducting
examination of all three classes – X, XI and XII – involving 1,26,894 students.
For Class X examination, a total of 541 centres were set up for 53,626 candidates.
As many as 33,741 candidates had appeared for the Class XII annual board examination at 316 centres across the summer zone.
The Class XI students were promoted to Class XII as one time exception by the board amid the health crisis.
Earlier, 39,527 candidates had to appear for the Class XI board examination across 368 centres.
