Schools celebrate Basant Panchmi Dewan Devi school
Dewan Devi Playway/Higher Secondary School, Rajpura, on Thursday celebrated Basant Panchmi on the premises of the school. All students, clad in yellow dresses performed a colourful cultural programme to worship Goddess Saraswati. ‘Halva’ was also served to all students and staff members by the management at the end.
Shiksha Niketan school
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, celebrated t Basant Panchmi on its premises. The celebration was organised by the students of Class X under the supervision of the incharges and coordinators. The students prepared handmade material to decorate the school. The programme began with the lightening of the traditional lamp and worshipping of Goddess ‘Saraswati’.
Rich Harvest School
Basant Panchmi was celebrated by students of Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana, on its premiseson Thursday. A special assembly was conducted, wherein the principal of the school, Anita Bhatia, delivered a welcome speech. She prayed to Goddess Saraswati to remove ignorance and bestow wisdom on all the students.. The school also presented various cultural programmes to mark the occasion.
National games Sqay c’ship opens
The Financial Commissioner (Finance), Arun Kumar Mehta, said the Centre was committed to raise sports infrastructural facilities in Jammu and Kashmir and make it a sporting hub in the near future. He was speaking after declaring the 65th National School Games U-14 and U-17 Boys/Girls Sqay Martial Art Championship at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here on Thursday.As many as 56 teams drawn from 14 States/UTs were competing in the sporting event.
Martyr’s Day observed
Students and staff of Jammu Kashmir Police Public School, Miran Sahib, on Thursday observed Martyr’s Day. A special assembly was conducted to remember those who laid down their lives during the freedom struggle of the country. The event commenced by paying a heartfelt tribute to the Father of The Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Prize distribution function
Shiksha Niketan High School, Gandhi Nagar branch, on Thursday organised a foundation-cum-prize distribution function. Dr Parshant Bakshi, Associate professor at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) was the chief guest on the occasion. Rameshwar Mengi, principal of the school, was also present on the occasion. Tiny tots of the pre- primary wing performed an enthralling cultural programme to mark the occasion.
