Jammu, August 2
With inputs that the terrorists might try to infiltrate from the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu division to usurp peace, Special DG of BSF and Army’s Northern Commander held separate visit to the border areas on Friday.
Special DG (Western Command) Chandigarh, YB Khurania, arrived at the BSF Jammu Frontier for a two-day visit on Thursday to review the security scenario of the IB. He was received by Inspector General DK Boora and other senior officers and updated on the current situation on border belt.
BSF IG gave a detailed presentation to the Special DG, covering all critical aspects of border security and domination along the IB of Jammu.
“The SDG chaired a security review meeting which was attended by top officials of the BSF. The meeting focused especially on the security situation in the Jammu region. During the visit, he interacted with the jawans and praised them for performing their duties with dedication and professionalism,” an official spokesperson of BSF said.
Reports are pouring in that Pakistan-based terror groups might try to attack security installations ahead of fifth anniversary of Article 370 on August 5 and Independence Day on August 15.
Meanwhile, Lt General MV Suchindra Kumar, GOC-in-C of Northern Command, along with senior officials of Jammu-based White Knight Corps visited areas along the LoC in Rajouri.
An Army official informed that the visit to Rajouri sector was done to review the operational preparedness of the troops deployed along border. “The Army Commander commended the operational readiness of the formation and exhorted all ranks to maintain the high state of professionalism,” the official said.
