Shah apprised of Kathua, Sopore incident, says NC
The ruling National Conference (NC) party on Tuesday revealed that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised concerns about the recent incidents in Jammu and Kashmir with Home Minister Amit Shah. The incidents, one in Kathua and another in Sopore, Baramulla district, have sparked widespread anger and condemnation.
In Kathua’s Billawar, a 26-year-old man, accused of being involved in militancy, allegedly took his own life on Wednesday night after facing alleged police harassment. Meanwhile, in Baramulla district, a truck driver was killed by Army firing when he allegedly failed to stop at a check post despite repeated warnings from officials.
Tanvir Sadiq, a senior NC leader, said the CM met Shah to discuss both Kathua and Baramulla incidents. “He said such things will alienate people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also talked about a time-bound inquiry into both incidents,” Sadiq stated.
