Shah should resign for remarks against Ambedkar: Congress
Continuing its attack on the BJP over the recent controversy regarding alleged remarks of Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Congress leadership in J&K repeated its demand of Shah’s resignation and sought a public apology from him.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress office in Jammu, senior party leaders, including working president Raman Bhalla and chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, announced that the party would hold an ‘Ambedkar Samman March’ from Dr Ambedkar Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, on Tuesday at 11.30 am to press for the demand for the resignation of Amit Shah.
Raman Bhalla said, “The entire nation is hurt by the insulting remarks of the Home Minister in Parliament against Dr Ambedkar and a series of protests throughout the country have taken place. But the Prime Minister is silent on this issue. The real intentions and mindset of the BJP have come out in the open.”
Ravinder Sharma said instead of expressing gratitude and honouring the contributions of Dr Ambedkar in the framing of the Constitution, “Amit Shah insulted the great personality and should immediately resign and apologise publicly.”
The Congress has recently raised the issue in J&K and held a series of protests.
