Shrine Board CEO chairs meeting to review R-Day preparations at Katra
Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), presided over a crucial meeting at the Spiritual Growth Centre in Katra to review preparations for the Republic Day celebrations.
The meeting brought together senior officials from various government departments and security agencies, highlighting a unified commitment to host a grand and flawless celebration.
It was decided that the main Republic Day function will be held at the Shrine Board's Sports Complex in Katra. The CEO of the Shrine Board will unfurl the National Flag and take the salute during the ceremonial march past, with a cultural programme featuring school children also planned for the occasion.
To ensure a seamless event, the CEO emphasised the importance of timely completion of arrangements, strict adherence to security protocols and effective coordination among all stakeholders. Special attention was given to venue preparation, including proper seating arrangements, sound systems and illumination of the premises.
The CEO stressed the need for strengthening security measures along the pilgrimage route, including the issuance and verification of RFID cards, crowd control strategies and the expansion of holding areas both along the track and in Katra town. Additionally, he reviewed disaster management measures, instructing agencies to make regular announcements and implement joint patrolling.
A series of directives were issued by the CEO to relevant departments regarding vehicle movement, sanitation, drinking water arrangements and the illumination of dark spots in Katra town. He also called for physical and systematic improvements wherever necessary following a critical review.
The Superintendent of Police, Katra, assured the CEO that adequate security arrangements would be in place, presenting a detailed security grid and deployment plan. This includes positioning quick response teams and a multi-tier security system involving Police, CRPF, and other paramilitary forces.
