Sikh body:Revoke termination of para-medical staff

The Jammu and Kashmir Sikh United Front (JKSUF) has demanded the revocation of termination order of 181 paramedics and staff nurses by the Union Territory Administration at a critical time when the country is fighting war against Covid-19 pandemic.

The para-medics were engaged under the SRO-24 by the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State Government.

The front which held a meeting of its members via-videoconference has termed the decision of the administration as ‘unfortunate’ as paramedics are playing an important role in fighting the spread of Covid-19.

“When there is a dire need of frontline Covid warriors, the authorities are disengaging paramedics. The Health Department is already facing acute shortage of staff. The UT Administration should revoke the order”, said Sudershan Singh Wazir, chairman of the front.

Leaders also urged the government to provide required equipment and safety gear to the frontline fighters such as doctors, paramedics, police and safai karamcharis, who are on the forefront of containing the virus.

Meanwhile, the Sikh United Front has appealed the people to obey and follow advisory issued by the Centre to fight the spread of Coronavirus. “Citizens are requested to cooperate with the authorities to save themselves and lives of others from the pandemic”, said Dayal Singh Wazir, chairman, Shiromani Akali Dal, J&K.
