Situation grim: Cong slams govt over ‘false’ peace claims

The Congress has termed the situation in parts of Jammu grim after four police officials were killed during an encounter in Kathua district.

Paying tributes to the martyred policemen who laid down their lives while fighting the terrorists, J&K Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra demanded more effective strategy to deal with the deteriorated situation in the region.

Strongly condemning the terror incident in Kathua, Karra expressed shock over loss of precious lives of security forces in the gun battle, while lauding the bravery of the forces who eliminated three terrorists in the encounter.

Karra said that the balloon of false and misleading claims of normalcy by the BJP-led Centre has burst due to a series of terror incidents in Jammu region in the recent past “but the Centre remains in denial mode to divert attention of the nation”.

“The Centre ignored the warning signals and ignored the voice of people from the ground, leading to deterioration of the situation,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Sunil Sharma in a statement said, “I salute the braveheart J&K police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation during the encounter in Kathua district. Their courage and dedication to the motherland will always be remembered. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
