Six peddlers booked under PITNDPS Act
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday announced that six drug peddlers have been booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS Act) in Srinagar.
The drug peddlers identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad, Abid Rasool Dar, Raza Rauf Mirjan, Azan Parviaz Glitsaaz, Javaid Ahmad Wani and Danish Ahmad Bhat, have been accused of extensively peddling narcotics in Srinagar, primarily targeting the youth of the region.
According to the police, the individuals were booked under the PITNDPS Act after securing formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. These orders were based on comprehensive dossiers compiled by the Srinagar police against the accused. Following their detention, the suspects have been lodged in District Jails located in Udhampur, Poonch and Rajouri.
The police further stated that these drug peddlers had been operating on a large scale, with numerous narcotics-related cases registered against them in various police stations across Srinagar. Despite that, the accused continued their illicit activities, blatantly promoting drug abuse among the local youth.
