Lt (Dr) Kamaldeep Kaur, alumni of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), at present working as Assistant Professor, Government Degree College (GDC), Udhampur, attended the NCC Refresher Course 58, at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh recently. After the successful completion of the course, she has been conferred with the promotion rank from Lieutenant to Captain. Dr Kaur was also adjudged the gold medalist of the course as she was placed first in order of merit for the overall performance in the course.
Shubham attends Hackathon in Dhaka
Shubham Mahajan, a PhD research scholar of the School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), attended the IEEE RAS Hackathon in Dhaka (Bangladesh). The event was funded by the IEEE student travel grant where the student and his team insurgent, comprising two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh had proposed the model of the next generation drones and radio-based disaster management on the topic “Real life implementation of robotics and automation in disaster management”. The model was awarded the second runnersup.
College opens branch in J&K
Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun, on Tuesday opened its first regional office in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to cater to the needs of its students. The centre was inaugurated by the CMD of the institute, Ajay Kumar. He said the institute already had students from J&K. He added that the college had special provisions for meritorious and economically weaker section students, including scholarships and fee concessions.
Shivi bags first prize in contest
Shivi Badyal, a student of MSc biotechnology (Semester III) from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, has brought laurels to the university by being adjudged the best student for “Voice for BT”- a national level inter-collegiate public speaking contest at VIT University, Vellore (Tamil Nadu), on December 6, 2019. The event was organised by the Association of Biotechnology-led Enterprises (ABLE) and supported by Novozymes, South Asia.
National seminar at JU
A one-day national seminar on contemporary world literatures in English: A cultural study was organised by the Department of English, University of Jammu (JU) University, in collaboration with Prof DK Rampal Memorial Trust. Prof Manoj Dhar, JU Vice-Chancellor was the chief guest at the inaugural function who complimented organisers for hosting the seminar in memory of a visionary, academician and administrator.
SPICMACAY programme at KV
Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) programme was organised on the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No 1, Gandhi Nagar, on Tuesday. Dr G CD Bharti along with co-singers Shri Gopi Kishan Bharti,Bhushan Bharti, CV Vanchaspati, Dholak Vadak, C Pavasa Nand Bharti and Tabla Vadak Komesh Bharti mesmerised the students of the vidyalaya with Indian classical singing, Sufi music and Kabir bhajans.
Chancellor’s Trophy begins at JU
The Chancellor’s Trophy 2019 organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, commenced on Tuesday at theuniversity stadium. The event was declared open by unfurling the university flag by K.K Sharma, Adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, J&K UT. Sharma appreciated the participation of players from various universities.
