Soldier killed, eight injured as vehicle skids off road in Kulgam

An Army soldier was killed and atleast eight others were injured when their Army vehicle skidded off the road and overturned in Kulgam district, officials said on Saturday.

Army’s Srinagar-based 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps, said the accident happened during an operational move on Friday night. The accident took place in the Damhal Hanjipora area of Kulgam when the vehicle overturned and rolled into a gorge, it said.

“Tragically, one sepoy lost his life, while few soldiers sustained injuries, who were promptly evacuated for medical care,” the Chinar Corps wrote on X.

Soon after the incident, the local police and the Army rushed to the spot and the injured soldiers were shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

Army said that the injured soldiers were stable.
