Special Lok Adalats conducted on Saturday across all districts of Kashmir by the respective District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) have settled scores of cases.
In Srinagar, 63 cases were taken up for settlement, out of which 54 were amicably settled, and Rs 88,300 was awarded as the settlement amount in criminal compoundable cases. In Budgam, 60 matters were considered for amicable settlement, with 47 matters being settled.
An amount of Rs. 6,74,300 was realised in the settlements. In Ganderbal, 33 cases were taken up for settlement, and 28 cases were amicably settled or compromised on the spot and Rs 9,500 was awarded as the settlement amount. In Pulwama, 75 cases were presented in four benches in the district. Out of these, 34 cases were settled in the Lok Adalat. In Kupwara, 25 cases were taken up, and eight cases were settled on the spot. The settled cases covered the NI Act, and traffic challans, leading to a total settlement amounting to Rs 1,34,750.
