A police team in Udhampur arrested a Special Police Officer (SPO) in Udhampur district when he was found carrying over five grams of heroin.

“A team of police station Udhampur led by its SHO while performing patrolling duty near Phangyal area intercepted one suspicious person, who on seeing police party tried to escape from the spot but was apprehended by the police party” an official of the police said.

On the frisking of said apprehended identified as Vishal Singh (SPO) posted at Police Lines, Udhampur, a resident of Shakti Nagar was found to be carrying drugs. “The police team recovered 5.64 grams of heroin like contraband substance from the accused person who was arrested on the spot” the official said.

In this regard, a case under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Udhampur. Further investigation in the case is underway.
