In his first visit to Srinagar after abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to roll the political chariot of the saffron party in the “out of bounds” Kashmir division ahead of Lok Sabha polls. He will also launch multiple projects worth Rs 6,400 crore during his rally in Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium on Thursday. Tight security arrangements have been made for the PM’s visit. Security personnel have been deployed in large numbers all along the routes to be taken by PM Modi. Barricades have been established in many places to prevent movement of the people. Drones and CCTV cameras are being used while patrolling has been intensified. Marine commandos have been deployed in Jhelum river and Dal Lake to prevent the use of these waterbodies for any subversive activities.

The PM will address a rally at around 12 noon where he will participate in the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ programme. An official said he would dedicate to the nation about Rs 5,000-crore worth Holistic Agriculture Development Programme for boosting the agricultural economy in J&K. The programme is expected to equip about 2.5 lakh farmers with skill development via dedicated Daksh Kisan portal. The visit holds importance ahead of Lok Sabha polls as the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to make its foray into the Muslim-dominated Kashmir region. The party is expected to announce candidates for the Valley in the coming days.

The PM will also launch multiple projects related to the tourism sector worth more than Rs 1,400 crore under Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme, including the project for integrated development of Hazratbal shrine, Srinagar.

He will also launch the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Tourist Destination Poll’ and ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora’ campaign. He will also announce tourist destinations selected under the Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD) scheme. Besides, the PM will hand over appointment letters to about 1,000 new recruits of J&K and will also interact with beneficiaries of various government schemes, including women achievers, ‘lakhpati didis’, farmers and entrepreneurs.

The PM will also launch about 43 projects that will develop a wide range of pilgrimage and tourist sites across the country.

43 schemes nationwide

The Prime Minister will also launch 43 projects that will develop a wide range of pilgrimage and tourist sites across the country.

Drones temporarily banned

  • Drones and quadcopters have been temporarily banned in Srinagar city in view of PM Narendra Modi’s visit. All unauthorised drone operations will invite action, the police said.
  • Srinagar city has been declared temporary red zone as per provisions of Rule 24(2) of Drone Rules, 2021, with immediate effect, the Srinagar police stated in a post on X, formerly Twitter. pti

Anantnag singer composes song in Modi’s praise

Imran Aziz (27), a singer from Anantnag, has composed a song eulogising PM Narendra Modi. He claims to be a huge fan of the PM. The three-minute song, welcoming him and praising the steps his government has taken, also mentions about the abrogation of Article 370. Calling upon the people to attend the rally, the song states that the visit will bring glory to Kashmir. pti
