Street vendors encroach city space

Streets of Jammu are being encroached upon by unwanted vendors who are using space meant for pedestrians. A majority of them are selling various items or consumer goods but it creates problems for the people moving in the market. The JMC needs to keep a check on them or given them a particular space to run their business. The congested city needs good planning. Anita Devi, Bhagwati Nagar

Satwari road needs blacktopping

The road near main Chowk Satwari has not been repaired for more than two years. For the past one year, we have been raising the issue with the former MLA of Gandhi nagar and Roads and Building Department to blacktop the road, but nothing has been done. Patients wait in cold

Patients coming to the ophthalmology OPD of the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura have to sit in the cold while waiting for their turn to meet the doctor. The only heating gadget is a gas heater which is turned off at the whim of the optometrist. The OPD is located in a small building away from the main hospital and seems to be of least concern of the SKIMS authorities. Fozia, Soura

Electricity plays hide and seek

The Power Development Department is not abiding by its winter power schedule even in a metered area. If the department wants to supply power for three-four hours, it should be without any interruption. Due to irregular power supply, we have no idea what is the winter power supply schedule of the power department. A severe winter and absence of electricity has made our lives miserable.
