Jammu, April 15

With the countrywide lockdown now extended up to May 3, a likely delay in the already suspended evaluation process of classes X and XII papers by J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is worrying the students as well as their parents.

Pertinently, the school education board on April had suspended evaluation process of Senior Secondary Examination (SSE) and Higher Secondary Part-II annual regular Summer Zone 2020 till further orders amid deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

“In the present situation, we are totally confused. First, the deadly virus has gripped the entire world and second late declaration of our

results which is obvious from the extended lockdown announced by the Prime Minister,” Subhash, a class X student said.

“Usually, the result of both classes is declared in the April-May every year but this time it looks almost impossible at least this month. Some papers are also to be conducted by JKBOSE for class XII. Looking at the present situation, it is difficult to tell when is result declared by school education board for both classes,” Surbhi, another class X student maintained.

“The biggest worry for us is the filling of online form for various competitive examinations/courses. Though the CBSE too is also facing similar crisis like situation not declaring result. But once the result declared by CBSE and online admission starts if becomes difficult for our children to apply because of delayed declaration of result”, Satnam Kumar, a parent said.

Veena Pandita, BOSE Chairperson told The Tribune, “The evaluation of papers has been suspended till further orders.” When asked about any specific strategy put in place to resume evaluation process, she said “as of now no such strategy has been finalised”.
