We would like to draw the attention of the government towards the use of sub-standard tiles in Jagti. In the name of development and refurbishing, contractors are using below-standard tiles and other materials. The issue has been raised by people several times, but nothing has been done to address the concerns. Sunil Kumar Pandita, Jagti

The four-laning of the Jammu-Akhnoor highway was welcomed by people but its construction has created a major health hazard for residents who live along its path. Due to the construction work, dust and sound of buzzing machines is affecting the lives of people. We request the administration and the construction company concerned to ensure that concerns of local residents are taken into consideration. Mohinder Jamwal, Shakti Nagar

Vendors occupy roads

Many roads in the city have recently been declared as no-parking zones and it has helped in removing traffic congestion in such areas to some extent. However, vendors continue to occupy these roads at many spots. The government needs to ensure that roads are free from such encroachments. The vendors from time to time have been given various spaces in the city, but they continue to occupy roads and even footpaths. Faizan Mehraj, Bemina

Uniform for bus drivers, conductors

Recently the government introduced electric buses and it is great to see this mode of transport plying in the city. The government should introduce more such buses in the city. During my short journey I noticed the driver and the conductor of the bus were not wearing a proper uniform which I think should be made mandatory by the government. I hope that the authorities will ensure proper uniform for such drivers. Showkat Ahmed, Baghimehtab
