After imposition of the lockdown, the Jamaat activist was hiding from one place to another and dodging the police because he was on the list of those identified for visiting Nizammudin.
As cops were tracking him for the past 15 days for hiding his travel history, the activist was caught by the police late on Sunday evening from Bomyal area of Nagrota.
“The traced Tablighi is in quarantine, along with his relatives,” Nagrota SDPO Mohan Lal said, adding, “The accused has visited many areas, including Medical College, Jammu, where he had gone for the treatment of his niece”.
The man originally hails from Reasi district and has been booked under Section 269, 270 of the IPC and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act.
The accused had stayed in Uttar Pradesh, from where he reached Delhi and joined the Markaz of Tablighi Jamaat. Later, he reached Jammu and then Reasi with his 10 companions.
However, when the Reasi police tracked down his companions and quarantined them, he fled and reached Nagrota in Jammu. He was staying with a relative, where he has been traced to and quarantined. His relatives have also been kept under home quarantine.
Sources said the police were carrying out a massive campaign to track those hiding their travel history, under which the Nagrota police have identified 178 people so far.
