Task force constituted to guide students through tele-counselling

The Directorate of School Education has constituted a task force of academic mentors – subject experts – to guide Class VI to XII students through tele-counselling helpline ‘Aao Baat Karein’.

The task force will handle queries from students, teachers and parents on anxiety, academics, exams, e-resources, time schedules and other related issues.

Sources said it was observed by the Directorate of School Education that many of the students did not have access to online, tele or radio classes, while some of them had doubts even after attending online, tele classes.

Although all the schools have formed WhatsApp groups and subject teachers are in regular touch with the students, some students have advanced queries that remain unaddressed, said a source.

“Despite an all-out effort by the Directorate of School Education to compensate for the loss in studies due to the lockdown, still a lot remains to be achieved,” said an official from Directorate of School Education.

“Thus need was felt to constitute a task force of academic mentors for Class VI to XII students. These academic mentors are available from 10 am to 8 pm through Aao Baat Karein helpline 6006800068,” the official added.

“These mentors try to resolve the queries through phone or other media. They guide students on any question, topic or chapter related to any subject in accordance with the JKBOSE syllabus and Directorate of School Education calendar,” informed the official.

The official further said, “Already, all the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of Jammu Division have been instructed to direct the head of institutions (both in summer and winter zones) to inform students/teachers that they can call at Aao Baat Karein for any academic queries.”
