Three CRPF personnel killed in militant attack in Handwara

At least three CRPF men were killed in a militants attack in north Kashmir’s Handwara sub-district, an official said.
Militants fired upon CRPF men of 92 battalion at Qazipora Kralgund area of Handwara at around 5.30 pm, wounding several men of the force.
The slain personnel have been identified as Ashwani Kumar Yadav (31), a resident of Ghazipur in UP; C Chandrasekar (31), resident of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu; and Santosh Kumar Mishra (35) of Aurangabad.
“The attack was retaliated promptly. Three CRPF personnel attained martyrdom in the attack,” a CRPF spokesman said. The CRPF unit which came under attack was deployed for law and order duty.
Soon after the shooting additional forces were rushed to the area and they have managed to establish a contact with the attackers.
The attack comes a day after five security men including three officers were killed in a gunfight in the same district. Two militants were also killed in the gun battle.
