Robbers involved in the heist in Jammu in February in which 1.5 kg gold ornaments were looted from a jewellery shop were arrested by the police on Thursday. Gold ornaments were recovered from the accused.

The daylight heist at ‘Anand Jewelers’ in Greater Kailash area had sparked concern among jewellers and sent shockwaves throughout the city.

The police have arrested the main conspirator Rahul Sharma, who is an advocate and a resident of Bishnah, Sunil Sharma, a resident of Bhalwal in Jammu, and Tushar Kumar, also a resident of Bishnah.

Sunil and Tushar executed the plan and committed the robbery. The preliminary questioning revealed that the robbers got the idea for it from a gold robbery at Samaypur Badli in Delhi in 2023.

“At noon on February 1, two armed robbers stormed into Anand Jewelers with a sharp-edged weapon to intimidate the lone woman owner present inside the shop. By placing the weapon on her throat, they looted gold, cash and a mobile phone,” the police said.
