Three militants and an Assistant Sub Inspector of a counter-insurgency unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police were killed in a gunfight at Panthachowk encounter in city outskirts here on Sunday.

The encounter erupted late Saturday, an hour after bike-borne militants attacked a ‘naka’ party near Panthachowk in which no injury took place.

“Soon after the shooting, a cordon and search operation was launched in the area that led to the encounter. In the encounter three militants and an ASI of police were killed,” a police official said.

Since Friday, ten militants have been killed in three operations.
