Tiranga Yatra preparations reviewed in Jammu

Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar on Saturday directed all district administrations to organise Tiranga concerts with cultural programmes and other similar activities at the district as well as sub-division level.

An official spokesperson said Kumar chaired a meeting of district administrations and heads of departments to review the preparation for Tiranga Yatra and different run-up activities to be organised for celebrating the Independence Day.

It was informed that the Tiranga Yatra in Jammu will be organised on August 12. The yatra will commence from Gulshan Ground Police Headquarters towards the back gate of Jammu University, Gujjar Nagar, Tawi Bridge and back to the starting point.

During the meeting, Kumar took appraisal of the preparations made by the district administrations of Jammu division. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners for meticulous planning and execution of all activities while ensuring participation of students from schools, colleges, armed forces personnel, civil society members, cyclists, bikers group, HoDs and officials, the spokesperson said.

“The Divisional Commissioner further directed all district administrations to organise Tiranga concerts with cultural programmes and other similar activities at the district as well as sub-division level,” the spokesperson said. Directions were also given for organising sanitation drives, flag hoisting by HoDs, illumination of government buildings and changing the background of official websites to Tricolour.

“During the run up activities, the participants will also take Tiranga Pledge and can write a message on Tiranga Canvas that shall be sent to New Delhi to be part of the National Independence Day celebrations,” the spokesperson said.
