Tourism Secy reviews projects in Nubra valley

Jammu, August 7

Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Ladakh, during his tour of Nubra valley took detailed assessment of the undergoing and proposed projects. He visited several sites at Sumoor near the Buddha Park and took on-the-spot review of the work progress.

He instructed the officials concerned to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for additional facilities like performance area, sound and light system, parking, toilets, change rooms, face-lifting besides other requisite facilities at the amphitheatre through a consultant.

While interacting with local residents, Khan said the Tourism and Culture Department had been making efforts to further upscale tourist facilities in Nubra Valley. He assured that demands, including development of sand dunes at Sumoor and inclusion of Sumoor Fort on the heritage list, would be considered.

The Tourism Secretary, along with a team of officials, also inspected the medicated hot-spring building and public convenience at Panamik and directed the officials for immediate demarcation of the tourist facility site. He inspected the area for further development as a well developed and managed hot water spring-cum-medicinal massage centre.
