Four people, including three tourists, were killed and at least 14 others were injured in a road accident in Ganderbal district of Kashmir, officials reported on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased included members of a family from Mumbai and a local driver. The accident occurred at Gund village when a passenger bus collided head-on with a car. The car, an Etios, was carrying tourists and was severely damaged in the crash. The incident left four people, including the driver, dead. The tourists were from Mumbai, while the driver was from Srinagar.

Following the accident, locals and rescue teams rushed to the scene and the injured were promptly transported for medical treatment.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his condolences to the grieving families. “Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on the highway near Gund, Kangan, which has claimed several lives and left many others injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured,” the CM’s office wrote on X.
