Srinagar

Without electricity for 19 days

The residents of Abu Bakr Lane 2 and some portions of Awanta Bhawan have been without electricity since January 13. Though the transformer was repaired four times but it did not last even for an hour. We have gone back to using candles. Some of us are charging mobile phones and rechargeable lights at the houses of friends and acquaintances living in other areas. It seems the Power Development Department is least bothered about our miseries in this cold. — Javid Rasool, Soura

Ply more government buses

Most of the areas in Srinagar become inaccessible after 5.30 pm due to the non-availability of public transport. Local private buses do not ply after 6 pm, making it difficult for people to reach their destinations. The government has recently introduced State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses. The best option is to at least increase their number so that the transport problem in the city is solved and make them ply till 8 pm. — Insha, Ilahi Bagh
