Training programme starts

A national training programme on “Crafting individuals as effective leaders” for Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers inaugurated at SMVDU. In the inaugural function, Dr Jyoti Sharma, the programme coordinator explained that the objective of this programme was to craft the rational, relational, practical and directional competencies for being the effective leader.

Workshop at JU

The Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu (JU),on Tuesday organised a workshop for scholars and students of the Postgraduate (PG) Department of Economics on “Gender sensitisation”. Prof Vishav Raksha Director, Centre for Women Studies, JU, introduced the theme of the workshop and spoke about the objective to hold it.

Valedictory function held

On the last day of Intra-College First Sports Festival-2020, valedictory-cum-prize distribution function was organised on Tuesday. The Director, Higher Education, Dr Yaseen Ahmed Shah, was the chief guest on the occasion .The function started with lighting of traditional lamp followed by Sarsvati Vandana. In his inaugural address, Dr Yassen Ahmed Shah assured that in future also the Higher Education Department would provide more opportunities to the students of the colleges.

Lecture at SMVDU

A special lecture was organised by the school of philosophy and culture, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), on the theme, “Freedom and morality” in its Matrika auditorium. Prof Balaganapathi Devarakonda, head, department of philosophy, University of Delhi, delivered the lecture, which was attended by more than 600 students from various streams.

Sports fest at GGM college

The Department of Higher Education on Monday organised an intra-zone (Jammu-Samba) Sports Festival 2020 at GGM Science College. The event began with the welcome address by Dr Ravender Tickoo, nodal principal, Jammu Division Colleges, and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Kaushal Smotra, Principal, GGM Science College. The competitions were held in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball.
