As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan participated in a series of events in Anantnag aimed at raising awareness about road safety. The events focused on promoting responsible driving practices and fostering a sense of responsibility among the youth.
The event featured the flagging off of a student rally, designed to spread the message of road safety throughout the district. The rally aimed to instil the importance of traffic rules from a young age, encouraging children to adopt safe driving habits as they grow older.
Additionally, the Transport Commissioner inaugurated a special road safety campaign, which included pasting eye-catching stickers on vehicles. These stickers aimed to highlight essential road safety practices, including wearing seat belts, adhering to speed limits and avoiding distractions while driving.
Speaking at the event, Mahajan emphasised the critical importance of road safety and called for collective efforts to reduce road accidents and fatalities.
Later, the Transport Commissioner visited the proposed site for the construction of an office-cum-driving test track at Zudder. During the visit, he reiterated the importance of using mobile phones to access the 54 available online services and cautioned the public against falling prey to touts. “Our department is committed to safeguard the interests of the public in general and transporters in particular,” Mahajan stated.
