Udhampur SSP urges officials to intensify surveillance of OGWs
Udhampur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure has directed police officials to intensify their surveillance on Over Ground Workers (OGWs) operating within the district.
In a recent crime review meeting, SSP Nagpure, accompanied by senior officials, Station House Officers (SHOs) and police post in-charges, discussed crucial matters related to security and crime control. The meeting emphasised the need for immediate action against OGWs, who are suspected of providing logistical support to terrorists involved in attacks in the region. Additionally, the importance of maintaining inter-agency coordination was highlighted.
During the session, the SSP instructed officials to maintain the highest level of alertness and prioritise the safety and security of vulnerable areas and hotspots across the district. A comprehensive review of investigations was carried out, covering criminal cases registered at various police stations, inquests, crimes against women, and action against drug peddlers and bovine smugglers.
Further discussions included the progress made in tracing missing persons, apprehending absconders, solving theft and burglary cases, and executing court orders. The meeting also focused on the disposal of cases and the resolution of significant law enforcement issues within each subdivision, as presented by the Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs).
The SSP emphasised the need for heightened efforts to combat drug-related crimes and prevent the rise of social crimes, cybercrimes, and other societal evils. Police officers were urged to adopt a public-centric approach and remain approachable, ensuring the timely redressed of public grievances. The SSP also stressed the importance of organising police-public meetings to further strengthen community relations.
A police spokesperson confirmed that all officers were instructed to remain dedicated in their work, particularly in addressing the pressing issues of drug abuse and social crime.
