Even as online shopping has resumed at several places outside Jammu and Kashmir, people in the Valley are still waiting for e-commerce sites such as Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra are not taking orders due to which we are facing problems,” said Sameena, a housewife.
“No one seems to be bothered about us. On TV, we see markets open outside the Valley despite a surge in the coronavirus cases. Also, home deliveries of non-essentials such as liquor and pizzas is happening outside but here we continue to wait for basic needs. Even the Internet is frequently barred. We have already forgotten about the 4G Internet services,” she said.
Online shopping had remained suspended for around six months after the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 on August 5 last year, when it had barred the phone and Internet services.
Kashmir Courier Association president Zahoor Qari said they had resumed delivery of couriers and were hopeful that the e-commerce sites would start delivering in the Valley soon.
“Due to the lockdown, we were unable to deliver couriers. However, we have resumed services now after the green signal from the government. Word has also gone out that we are delivering. We are hopeful that the e-commerce sites will also start delivering soon,” Qari said.
He said they would be delivering in all areas barring the containment zones.
