To encourage maximum voter participation in the Assembly poll this month, several districts in Jammu are launching the Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme on a massive scale.

An official spokesperson said Kishtwar District Election Officer (DEO) Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Wednesday launched the SVEEP programme in the district. Over 1,500 people participated in the event, including Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), ASHAs, students from Government Higher Secondary School Boys, GHSS Girls, Polytechnic College and NCC Scouts from Government Degree College (GDC), the spokesperson said.

Young voters must vote

The objective of these activities was to inspire young voters, especially those voting for the first time, to exercise their right to vote and contribute to forming a healthy government. SVEEP official spokesperson

In his address, the DEO urged the participants to ensure maximum voter turnout on September 18, which is the designated polling day for the district.

In Doda district, a community awareness rally under the SVEEP programme was organised today by the students and staff of Government Higher Secondary School, Jakyas.

The rally aimed to promote awareness about voting rights, besides social and environmental issues affecting the community, such as cleanliness, conservation, health, etc, the spokesperson said. Students and staff participated enthusiastically, carrying placards and banners with slogans and messages, he said.In Rajouri district, the SVEEP cell organised a series of activities across the Budhal (ST) constituency.

“The session provided detailed demonstration on the functioning of the EVMs, step-by-step voting instructions, and troubleshooting guidance on common problems,” said the official spokesperson.

He said participants were encouraged to engage in hands-on practice and ask questions, ensuring that even those with minimal experience could confidently participate in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, a series of activities were organised under the SVEEP programme across various assembly segments of Kathua district.

“The objective of these activities was to inspire young voters, especially those voting for the first time, to exercise their right to vote and contribute to forming a healthy government. The participants were urged to embrace the idea of ‘no voter to be left behind’ and ensure maximum voter turnout on October 1,” the spokesperson said.
