Want J&K youth to be daring, adventurous and strong: L-G
Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said he wanted the local youth to be “daring, adventurous and strong” as speedy development of the society largely depends on productivity of its youth.
Sinha was speaking at the sixth annual day celebration of the Guidance & Career Counselling Cell (GCC) for Youth Development in the Samba district.
“I want the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to be daring, adventurous and strong. I want our youth to be unshakably strong in their morals and ideals. I firmly believe that our youth must show the way to the world by carrying age-old traditional values in one hand and modern scientific tools in the other,” the L-G said.
On the occasion, he praised the GCC’s efforts in shaping a brighter future for the region’s youth through skill development and coaching initiatives. He commended the volunteers and all those associated with GCC for their commitment to empowering youth with essential skills and knowledge. He noted that the unique approach of the organisation serves as a “role model for the nation.”
“GCC has adopted a futuristic approach for the youth-centric initiatives to enhance the quality of their pursuits and enabling them to pursue their dreams. The focused effort to study, understand, develop and conserve cultural and intellectual heritage is truly inspiring,” the L-G said.
He further highlighted that the design of GCC’s programmes reflects the youth's drive to embrace a forward-thinking mindset. “The way GCC has designed its entire programmes clearly reflects the youth's desire to adopt a futuristic approach,” he added.
L-G Sinha emphasised that the growth of society depends heavily on the productivity of its youth. He remarked that the future progress of Jammu and Kashmir hinges on the health and well-being of young people at the local level, a goal that GCC is working towards in partnership with local administration through infrastructure and coaching.
Sinha also pointed to various progressive policies aimed at fostering youth development, such as initiatives in education, industries, skill development, sports, agriculture, innovation and transparent recruitment processes, which he believes will offer brighter opportunities for the youth of J&K.
He further lauded the work of the Guidance & Career Counselling Cell, particularly in empowering women.
