Weather improves in Valley, Srinagar flights resume
After Sunday night’s snowfall, the weather in the Kashmir valley improved on Monday, leading to the resumption of flight operations at Srinagar International Airport, which had been suspended the day before due to poor visibility and foggy conditions. On Sunday, all flights to and from Srinagar were grounded because of the adverse weather conditions.
The snowfall, which began in several parts of the Valley late Sunday afternoon, also affected Srinagar, where the city saw overnight snowfall. However, by Monday afternoon, the weather had cleared enough to allow operations to resume at the Sringar airport.
An airport official told The Tribune that all the flights operated on Monday, even though the morning flights were rescheduled because of the bad weather. Srinagar airport witnessed a huge rush of passengers on Monday, according to officials. The crucial Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open throughout the snowfall, ensuring vital road connectivity.
CM Omar said, “restoration work is in full swing & being closely monitored.”
